About the Owner

Susan Cohen

MPT, CLT, certifications in: Dry Needling, LSVT BIG, telemedicine, specializations in Balance/vestibular and orthopedic dysfunction

Susan Cohen was born and raised in Totowa Borough NJ, however, the Jersey shore has been her home since 1988.

Susan received her first Bachelors of Science in Animal Science; a Pre-Veterinary Medicine track at Rutgers University, New Brunswick at Cook College.

Her passion for physical therapy started early after her father survived a debilitating stroke. Susan became her father’s primary caregiver, moving back into the family home for the next year. During this time, she decided on pursuing her path toward becoming a physical therapist.

After her full time year of caring for her father she completed her certification in Massage Therapy and then went on to study for her Masters in Physical Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, receiving her second Bachelors in Health Science and her Masters in Physical Therapy.

Susan began her career in Physical Therapy at Bacharach Institute of Rehabilitation and for the next 23 years had an abundance of experiences working with people from pediatric to geriatric ages in the treatment of diverse musculosketal disorders, neurologic, orthopedic, post surgical, degenerative diseases of joints and spine, oncologic, balance and vestibular.

Susan has always had a love of learning and teaching. During her years of practice she continued to expand her expertise and was able to provide community education in a variety of setting.  Susan became specialized in balance/vestibular and orthopedic dysfunction. She also received certifications in CLT (Certified Lymphedema Therapist), concussion, LSVT BIG and telemedicine. She learned how all of the specializations overlap into other areas of disease and dysfunction and how to synthesize a plan of care taking into consideration the whole body.

Her goal then and now, which is the most rewarding part of her job and why she loves what she does, is getting people back to doing what they love to do.

If it is running in the next marathon, surfing the waves, returning to playing golf after hip surgery, tennis after shoulder surgery or being able to get up from the floor after playing with their grandchildren; it’s getting her patients back into the ‘game’; the quality of life which we all desire which gives her the best reward.

After working in a hospital based clinic for 23 years she is extremely excited to have established her own practice where she can deliver the treatment and care that everyone deserves!

Susan has two children. Daniel, she has watched grow into an exceptional young man, an Eagle Scout, wrestling captain and now a college student at TCNJ.  Her daughter Ann who loves soccer and has played for MUSA travel team for 4 years, which means many fun weekends of togetherness on the road, also plays the alto saxophone and holds her brown belt in Taekwondo. Susan is also “Mom” to Milo her Bernedoodle pup.

Susan has always had a love for cycling, the outdoors, hiking and many travel adventures which she loves to share and hear about from others. She would love for you to share the story of your next adventure!
